Guy in Jeans & Blazer Must Be Easy To Work With
Gone are the days of corporate tycoons in a $3,000 power suit. These days, sales managers and marketing executives are more prone to brokering the big deal in some hybrid gear.
I mean, sure – when you see an extra slim fit blazer, you might think – whoa, what’s with the sportcoat? But then a quick glimpse to the denim southern hemisphere should set you at ease. Honestly, who wouldn’t want to do a deal with a guy who shuns ties, and frowns at slacks or suit pants?
“Guys in suits are everything that’s wrong with America! That’s why Wall Street wrecked Main Street!” claimed enterprise software sales director Tom Sherwood, at our lunch.
"Look, meetings for me are usually two ears and a notebook. The last thing I'm gonna do is whip out my laptop over lunch, or blast you with a 80 slide deck!! Perhaps you could infer that from my inappropriately large pocket square?"
“You think it’s tough to ink something with me? Doubt that – just scope out my colored socks and rugged wingtips. Yeah, sure I know my way around a boardroom. My navy blazer tells you that. But, you can also just talk to me. I mean, I’m wearing blue jeans, for God’s sake!”
Then he whipped out his laptop...over lunch.
