Disgruntled Starbucks Barista Doesn't Love Taking Out Scalding Bags of Hot Garbage

Starbucks cashiers often coyly ask 'Would you like room for cream?' And if you're like me, you say 'No thank you - I think I'd prefer to pour an inch of scalding hot coffee into the trash.'  It's one of the few gifts of an otherwise tedious commute.

Well, Lisa Wayne isn't laughing.  You see, she went for this terrific job at Starbucks because it came with benefits, and let's face it, some pretty sick perks.  Free macchiatos much?

Unfortunately, her dream has soured.  A long way from cashier, she's earning her stripes at the cream and sugar table.  She claims this wasn't in her job description.

'When I took this job, I dreamed of a cool black and green visor, free lattes, power tripping on customers, even the occasional unwelcome conversation about race,' recounts Wayne.

'Instead, I spend my day wiping up sugar and changing out bags of piping hot trash. I'm invisible - when I try to wipe up spilled milk and sugar and straw wrappers that people can't get into the 3 inch garbage hole, people nudge me out of the way. Often, they mindlessly pour hot coffee on my forearms, and my good rag.  My good rag!'

Lisa was noticeably angered.  So I just grabbed 85 napkins and sat down by myself at a four-top for an 8-hour virtual workday.
